Windows Terminal is a terminal emulator that Microsoft developed as a replacement for the traditional Windows Console for Windows 10 and later. Basically, this app lets you run any application from the command line, including all Windows emulators, in a separate tab.
The program is set up to run Command Prompt, PowerShell, WSL, SSH, and Azure Cloud Shell Connector in different tabs. This is one of the newest features compared to the old Console: you can work with different tabs and perform several operations simultaneously.
Windows Terminal was announced in May 2019 as a modern alternative to the Windows Console, and part of the code was uploaded to GitHub that same month. The first preview came out in July 2019. In May 2020, a year after its official announcement, the first stable version of the project was released, and it has been regularly updated ever since.
Windows Terminal is a very useful application for anyone with the intermediate or advanced knowledge required to take advantage of it. Not only does it offer more and better features than the old Console that's been on Windows for decades, but it also looks much better thanks to its modern and elegant interface.
